Film and Television Literature Index

This full-text database is the definitive online tool for film and television research. Subject coverage includes film and TV theory, preservation and restoration, writing, production, cinematography, technical aspects, and reviews. Film and Television Literature Index provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts for more than 300 publications, as well as full text for more than 90 journals. Canadian Directory to Foundations & Grants

The Canadian Directory to Foundations & Grants is an online database containing updated information on over 2,200 Canadian grant-making foundations. Together these foundations hold assets of almost $12 billion and award grants with a total value of over $1 billion. The directory includes over 150 American foundations with a history of granting in Canada as well. This database is now accessible via Novanet.

ACP Journal Club merged with Annals of Internal Medicine

Medical researchers and clinicians take note! As of May 2008, ACP Journal Club ceased being published as a separate journal. Instead of being a bimonthly stand-alone journal, ACP Journal Club is now a monthly feature of Annals of Internal Medicine.

This arrangement will benefit readers of both publications. First, the ACP Journal Club summaries will now be available to readers once a month rather than bi-monthly. Second, busy clinicians will now have easy access to both publications in a single access point. Third, co-publication will facilitate links between topically related material in the two publications.

The ACP has also launched a new alerting service to members called ACP Journal Club PLUS. Sign up to receive e-mail alerts from ACP when articles of interest to you are identified by the McMaster program. You can customize this service for your own clinical interests and receive alerts about new articles that your peers with similar interests have found relevant and noteworthy.

American Periodicals Series Online 1740-1900 (on trial until July 31/08)

This unique and valuable collection contains digitized images of the pages of American magazines and journals that originated between 1741, when Andrew Bradford's American Magazine and Benjamin Franklin's General Magazine were launched, and 1900. Deriving from the acclaimed American Periodicals Series microform collection, APS Online features over 1,100 periodicals spanning nearly 200 years--from colonial times to the advent of American involvement in World War II. Titles range from America's first scientific journal, Medical Repository, to popular magazines like Vanity Fair and Ladies' Home Journal. Because the database contains digitized images of periodical pages, researchers can see all of the original typography, drawings, graphic elements, and article layouts exactly as they were originally published.
